What materials do you use?
We use Melamine and laminate mdf board for our cabinets. We DO NOT use particle board or other cheap materials.
Can you create 3D kitchen plans?
Yes — we offer 3D design plans; cost is waived if you proceed with them.
How long does a full kitchen renovation take?
Usually 2–8 weeks from demolition to handover in Auckland depending on materials selection.
Do you provide installation services?
Yes — installation is available as part of their service offering.
What is the most expensive part of the project?
Cabinetry typically accounts for 28–35% of the total budget
Should I reface or replace my cabinets?
Refacing is cheaper if carcasses are in good condition, full replacement is costlier but comprehensive
Can I stay in my home during renovation?
Yes, but expect limited kitchen access and possible disruption
What size cabinet backing you use?
We use full size 16mm thick cabinet and drawers backing which makes cabinets stronger and easy to install on the walls.
Is your pricing transparent with no hidden fees?
Yes—quotes itemise cabinetry, hardware, installation, trade services, and optional extras upfront.
Do you offer a free consultation for design and quotes?
Yes — you can send plans or photos and receive a free design consultation and estimate.
Do you come to measure and plan on-site?
Yes — we’ll visit your home to advise, take measurements, then provide a tailored estimate.
Can I reuse floors when updating cabinets?
Yes—you can match the same layout and keep existing flooring intact.
Can I buy cabinets only and install myself?
Yes, we can supply the cabinets and hardware so you can install it by your self.
How do NZ‑made kitchens compare to imports?
NZ-made cabinetry meets local standards, custom sizes, better materials and with better warranty and consumer protection.
What are common layout types?
L‑shape, U‑shape, galley and island kitchens are popular NZ layouts.
Do you use soft-close hardware?
Yes we only use soft-close hardware.
How much deposit is required to start the project?
Typically 50% deposit is needed after quote acceptance.
What’s the payment schedule?
50% deposit to commence, 30% before benchtop installation, then 20% on completion.
Do you manufacture and install?
Yes — they custom-build assembled cabinets in-house and provide on-site installation.
What board cutting/trade services are offered?
We provide CNC cutting, board edging, drilling & labeling for trade plans.
Can DIY customers use trade services?
Yes — trade services are available to homeowners for a 10% surcharge.
Is colour customisation available?
Yes — we will build any custom size or colour, including handle-less and acrylic configurations.
What design styles can Sturdy Kitchens cater to?
From modern handle-less to shaker, laminate, gloss, matte and acrylic finishes—customised to suit your aesthetic.
Do you work around existing gas, water or electrical connections?
Yes—Either we can orgnise this work or we cab coordinate with other trades to ensure seamless integration with plumbing and electrical points.
Can you build cabinetry for areas beyond kitchens?
Yes—we also manufacture wardrobes, laundries, and custom built‑in cabinetry.
Do you handle removals or disposal of old units?
We can arrange demo and disposal and provide you the quote
Do you include warranty on hardware like hinges and drawer runners?
Yes—soft‑close hardware from trusted brands and a workmanship warranty applies.
Are showroom visits available or by appointment only?
You can visit any time between 9am to 5pm in weekdays.
Can you integrate appliances like ovens, hobs, or dishwashers?
Yes—we design and manufacture cabinetry layouts that allow seamless appliance installation.
